I'm not done..

I thought I would be this time, but apparently that just isn't the case. I found more books that I'd like to get rid of. Pictured (if it loads) is my bookcase as of now. The second shelf on the right hand side holds the books that I like the most. There are a few of them on the second shelf to the left as well. I think once I get rid of more books, I will work to make the top two shelves where my books will go, and the bottom shelves will be dedicated to yarn and other such things. There are two shelves that I can't get to without moving my desk, but they hold items I don't often use so that's okay. So... Here's my work in progress.

Those books in the bag in my picture? All from the 1930's - 1950's. It feels good getting rid of things, but it's not always easy to get started, is it?

@thelme55 Good luck to you. I hope you can manage to get rid of what needs to be taken care of. I need to learn to get rid of everything all at once instead of doing gradually.

I had over 200 at one time, but I've gotten rid of a lot. Each of the shelves pictured are two deep (two books deep)

I find books so difficult to part with. I may be persuaded that digital is best, but only because I've only just discovered that I can get a couple of free books through Amazon Prime each month. My savvy mother had to tell me that!

I've heard of a new program with amazon for free books. There is also the amazon free best sellers list too. I check that periodically. I love both digital and physical copies of books, but most of the books on my shelves were books I got because they were free.

It's good to go through and get rid of things no longer being used / enjoyed

I've been doing that a lot, and every time I think I'm done, there is one or two other things I realize I don't really need.

Thank You. I didn't show the top of the shelves. Above it is a porcelain doll, one of my mom's dolls that I've shared here before, and a purple tote full of stuff that I inherited as well as Mr. And Mrs. Claus.

@LindaOHio Thank You. This is a five bedroom, three bathroom house and my bedroom is the least cluttered of them all.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We have been married 50 years (in Oct.)...you talk about a lot of "stuff" and a need to get organized! We REALLY need it!

Good for you, it's about time to start going through kids rooms. Since I'm starting Christmas shopping

This is something I should do, move the less interesting books on the upper shelves.

That's a good idea, keep the books you will read on eye level.

@ScribbledAdNauseum This is what I plan to do, at least with my books, I let my husband do what he likes for his books.

If you're like me your yarn will overtake your shelves. I love both yarn and books so I have had to resort to keeping my books on shelves and my yarn in storage containers in my closet. I find it hard to resist both

I have a drawer in my closet that I will dedicate to yarn as well. Trust me, I've thought long and hard about where I'll keep my yarn. I plan to have shelves full of it.

I think so too. That shelf with the box, I need to find another place for the box. It has Christmas decorations in it.

@sophie09 Historical fiction for the most part, but I also enjoy some mystery and horror type novels. One of my favorite authors is Simone St James.
