Having a cup of tea. Well, I rather call it chai. Oh wait, that's not a cup, it's a glass. And it's a whiskey glass as well I mean I love chai and I don't know why I love to drink it from a glass than from a cup. Is it wierd to drink chai(tea) from a glass?

Yeah, I only used to have chai from a roadside chaiwalla everyday, some of them make the best chai. But during this current lockdown situation, I have to make it at home in my way.

Why should it be weird? You can drink your tea from a plastic mug if it makes you happy. I drink tea from a porcelain cup. The English word is tea, not chai. Chai is used in many other languages, for example in Russian. You can find information on the etymology of tea / chai here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etymology_of_tea#:~:text=Russia%20(chai)%20encountered%20tea%20in,the%20Min%20pronunciation%20as%20teh.

@MALUSE - if I buy Chai tea in Canada, it means it will have a variety of spices.

@paigea That is odd because chai means tea, nothing else. You can find it in the dictionary. Yet, I know what you mean. For some inexplicable reason, spiced tea is also sold as chai in Germany. Someone who knows nothing about languages must have started this nonsense. If you order chai in Russia, you get tea because this is the Russian word for tea as I've already mentioned. No spices in it.

@MALUSE We call tea as chai in India. I thought the term chai is only used in India. Never heard it is also used in Russia. Thanks for the info.

@pujanmukherjee5 You can drink tea from any glass, just like someone can drink whiskey from any glass. No particular whiskey glass either, people just make their choice of glass.

@pujanmukherjee5 do you buy it like that? Or do you mix the spices in yourself?

@paigea I mix the spices and milk by myself to the tea leaves and some sugar.

From tea leaves and grated ginger and cardamom to add some spiceness and milk of course.

The more amusing part is drinking it from a Whiskey glass! Else it is in fact sometimes a good change to have tea in glass.
