Amazon Scam The other day i received a phone call from someone claiming to be an Amazon employee.the caller, (which i could tell was a recording) claimed that someone tried to use my Amazon account to purchase a $789.00 ipad and i should stay on the line to straighten things out. (lol).Naturally i hung up immediately but the call upset me enough where i had to call my credit card company and Amazon as well and of course the whole thing was a scam. Do you often get calls like this?and if so, do you report the caller as i did?

I don’t pick up any number that isn’t in my cell phone. So if someone calls and the number with no name comes up I wait for them to leave a message. I do get text like that some times or fake emails and all I do is go to my amazon account or whatever account they are talking about that a purchase was made from and see if it’s true or not.

i usually don't answer calls like this either, but, the Amazon name was on my screen so that's why i picked up. so whoever made this call actually used the Amazon title right next to the phone number and that's why i reported this right away

@ShyBear88 That's true, even though i know Amazon doesn't call ,i have to admit that the call got me a little shaken up that's why i contacted them right away

@jujunme it’s supper easy to copy numbers but Amazon themselves will never call you first. They will always give you a number by email or text for text support.

@jujunme you should make the credit card company aware of the ongoing scam

@amitkokiladitya That's a good idea but, these people make up different names and call from all different numbers so, the credit card company's wouldn't know who to block

I get scam calls telling me my social security has been stolen or my social security has been cancelled, but I know they are scams. I always check snopes.com just in case.

i used to get the social security calls too. what threw me off with this one was that the Amazon name was right next to the phone number that came up on my screen.so, that's why i picked up the phone

@marguicha That's what i did since i knew right away it was a scam but ,there are people who believe what the caller is saying and end up giving away their identity.and their money.

No. I installed a call blocker on my phone. It blocks any calls or messages not on my list.

i do have a call blocker but, there are so many people making these types of calls it's difficult trying to block them all. plus ,they call from different numbers and places so you end up getting nowhere trying to block each number
