Mulan is a wonderful watch.

The animated version of Mulan has become real movie characters. Needless to say, the legend has come to life. If there is one thing that is good about China these days, it is the story of a young girl whose 'chi' catapulted her to the legend that she is today. Will refrain from criticisms here, so as not to spoil any one else's viewing. But Mulan is wonderful watch.

Movies with real actors are better than cartoon characters.

I like real actors, too. Animation though, delivers another kind of entertainment. Have you seen Leap or Ballerina? That's good animation.

@jayanth_77 I love all those you mentioned except for the Indian animation series that were never in my childhood telecast. Any link on a good one?

@eileenleyva no other than Disney world's Tom & Jerry, He Man, Jungle Book, Spiderman and some Indian animation series I haven't watched anything else.

Read some reviews online that the movie isn't good at all. I'm interested how the Huns looked in the movie though.

'Isn't good at all' - then those reviews are not worth reading. Mulan is a highly recommended movie, a film filled with lessons, exacting theme that emanates from the 'chi', symbolisms, and brilliant cinematic effects. Gosh, did those critics not notice the foreshadowing of scenes that suggest equality in the social norm? Hay.

Yup, if only viewers could appreciate the artistic techniques utilized to convey the theme and the lessons, that would be more wonderful.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Many say the reviews were real bad. I do not understand that because the Mulan is a wall-to-wall movie that deserves good criticisms.

@eileenleyva They probably do appreciate how they made it and all that its just that they don´t know how to say it.

Nope. The setting could have been different because the viewers know what China is, and what Chinatown is, as there is one in almost every city in the world. But this one happened long ago. It is a village reconstructed, and the Imperial City, too. All to the director's imagination. But what is the setting compared to the whole power of the movie? Gosh. how shallow those critics are!

@psanasangma Five minutes into the review, I lost interest. Sorry. The critic was right, though, this is a work of fiction. So, there it is, it's the Legend of Mulan. Just like the Legend of Tarzan. I love legends.

That is the consensus of many - the reviews are overwhelmingly negative. Gosh, I couldn't believe it, because Mulan is the perfect movie - from plot development, characterization, production, cinematic effects, etcetera. Compared to other Disney remakes, Mulan is the most challenging and most exhaustive. The actors who even executed Matrix moves do deserve applause. Perhaps the movie was affected by the contagion the world suffers from. That is sad because the movie is inspiring and a great treat for the children and the family.

Liu Yifei, a ballet dancer, I think. She studied martial arts just for Mulan. I think she did well. Or, she might have a stunt.

The new version is not a musical but a serious telling of a legend. There are scenes where 'Reflections' fills the background that right away, the viewer is made to feel affinity to a beloved character.

It's one of my top seven or eight kid movies of all time. I'm a women's rights kind of guy. As long as they obey me in my house. (Just kidding!) My all-time favorite kid movie is the original Lion King. Hamlet with cute lions. You can't beat that.

@TheHorse The animation is, indeed, a classic. The latest version though is scarier because the animals seem huge and real. But it's the same story.
