A day bogged down in IT issues!

They say it doesn't rain but it pours! Today was that day for me. I've recently had internet issues but was lucky to have my modem swapped for a better version a couple of days after reporting it. Today my computer was not for playing ball and started behaving weirdly first thing. So, I had to get my IT savvy husband to have a look. He did some spring cleaning and ran a few scans. He also removed a lot of rubbish from my desktop and transferred all my files onto an external hard drive (yup, I know, guilty as charged - my filing is shocking!). It seems to be running better now but we'll just have to wait and see, I guess. I'm now lagging behind on my online activities. I guess I'll just have to work harder tomorrow. How's your day been? 'tis a good thingy yer hubs 'twas able to do such. i fear i've filled 4 'xternal hard drives with pictures...by date...which's a nightmare when huntin' one down i jest know i've got, lol. i've 'country net' out here via satellite. such malfunctions quite oft 's the winds like to thrash 't 'bout. whilst most get frustrated with such, i see't to be a sign i need to be tendin' other schtuff. 'twas a breezy day here yesterday with loads 'f schtuff keepin' me 'way from the puter. not 'ntirely true, was'n the puter come late 'fternoon but not the time fer visitin'.

Yes, I'm blessed like that - I would be lost if my husband wasn't around LOL I think that's the best thing you're doing even though it's a nightmare to locate stuff. At least you know if something happened to your computer, all your stuff would be safe Oh, you're on satellite? Isn't that very expensive? When I worked for an ISP, satellite was pricey AND unstable but I like your way of thinking. I can get all worked up when technology fails - and when that happens, I fixate on the problem and can't tear myself away to do other things that need doing I hope the breeze was welcome. I know we could use it here because it's very sticky and HOT. Have a lovely day

@crazyhorseladycx Hahaha he's a techie so it makes sense that he'd urge you to go with a newer more expensive model LOL But of course, only do it if you feel comfortable with it. I'm sorry to hear you lost a lot of valuable photos over the years. We also have fibre where we live and opted for it only because we really need fast, reliable internet access 24/7 because we run our small graphic design company from home. I have to say, it's very pricey but at least it's reliable - well, most days You just do what you feel is best for you and your needs, my friend Oh wow, my country's also a semi-arid desert! So we must have similar climates.

@Lushlala most fortunate fer certain :) i've a son who's very tech/puter savvy, but he 'nsists i need new, tried to talk me 'nto high dollar puters. 'r offers to wipe my drive 'n start all o'er. uhm, nope, lol. i've lost tons 'f photos o'er the years coz 'f crashed hard drives, floppy disks 'n cd's that deteriorated. tryin' to prevent that. yes ma'am, good ol' unreliable satellite! used to be that'd all 'twas 'vailable out here. a few years back they put'n fiber optics, but i refuse to pay $40 more per month fer such. i don't stream schtuff, so've not the need fer high speed 'n their reliability. i jest take schtuff'n stride :) the breeze 'twas nice. 'tis very arid here, though i'm from country that one suffered with the humidity'n heat, so ya've sure got my sympathy there. hope y'ave the same.

@allen0187 Believe me, friend, I'm desperate to change back to the older operating system. This Catalina is dragging down my computer. And it's only a few years old!

Good to hear Alas, most of my IT issues have been resolved BUT now my Pages is playing up. But I've noticed all my IT issues started after I mistakenly upgraded to Catalina Everyone is complaining it's horrible.

I am glad your laptop is doing better. I hate when mine is slow and sluggish. My day is a neighbor feeling like no one cares and sometimes I don't blame her. She had a bad car accident a few weeks ago. She does not have money for medicine and her dog broke her leg in the accident. She does not have money to take her to the vet. On and on go the troubles. Feeling depressed.

Thank you, Jo It's never nice when that happens because it just slows you down. Aww that's so sad to hear. I'm really sorry about your neighbour. It's really hard to keep the faith when life keeps throwing these curve balls at us but what do we have besides hope? Sending you much love and a HUGE bear hug xox

Appreciate your advise but trust me, mine is. Macs are expensive for a reason - you don't need to do much fiddling at all.

I actually don't have much data on my computer and the storage is HUGE. Besides, my husband always runs scans and ensures there's nothing horrible lurking about.
