Halloween Update In Our Area

Well, sad to say that Halloween has been more or less cancelled in our area. I honestly can't remember a time in my entire life when this has happened. We have already done the decorating and have bought the candy to hand out. Now what?? I'm not sure if anyone will come and if they do, should I open the door? I really hate this but if it needs to be done, I really have to follow the rules. Has anything like this happened in your area??

Ours has been cancelled. Years ago, we had a wicked ice storm and it was postponed to the following night. It wasn't the same.

I think that the last year we were in Manitoba, we still had kids come to the door... and we lived in the country lol... There was no stopping them out there!

@DianbeN. I lived in a town that did not allow Halloween on a Sunday. They would change it to Saturday

As far as I know Halloween is still on in my area. We are not trick or treating though as we don't want to risk it. Were doing something as a family instead.

Makes sense and I think that I would be doing the same if the kids were at home. Who wants to take the risk??

i wish i'd'n answer, hon. such's the same here'n new mexico, though i'm most certain some'll be doin' 't anyhow. we're back down to no more'n 5 folks gatherin'. e'en our thanksgivin' 'tis lookin' grim. no more'n 5, they're discouragin' havin' anyone outside yer household 'bubble'. which's fer safety sake, but hard'n the heart. i'd really hoped fer the grandbabes to come... 's 't stands, if'n such 'tis followed, i ought not e'en go to my momma's fer such.

We just had our Thanksgiving last weekend and we had to put it off... so it was a pretty quiet one for us. Other than Halloween which is a no go, we are all wondering about Christmas. My son is supposed to host it, but his mother-in-law is in her 80s, so I don't know what is going to happen. I haven't looked at the numbers today... almost afraid to!!

@Hate2Iron i'm purty sure not much'll be 'mproved by xmas :( not 'nough folks 'll 'dhere to the 'rules', lots who did 've fergone such 'fer many months. that'd be the troubles here. my sweet momma, aunt 'n myself 've auto-immune disorders. one 'f my lil grandsons 's c.a.s.k. syndrome, where e'en a simple cold causes a minimum week long stay'n the hospital. his last'un 'twas more severe, requirin' near 2 weeks'n i.c.u., 'nother there'n a regular bed. 'tis terrifyin' to think 'f the possibilities.

Yes, it is so sad that we can't have Halloween this year. I don't think many people will do trick or treat either. But at least, we can decorate some outdoor items.

What a great idea!! I think that I will do a bit of exploring tomorrow to see what awesome Halloween decorating is taking place. I always go for walks on the same old streets. Time to venture out!! Thanks for the idea!!!

Everything has changed this year, we don't have any Halloween party too...maybe we will just celebrate it at home so the kids could still enjoy

The schools won't even be hosting parties. I used to love that as a kid. I still remember those parties... right down to the little details!!!

All of our area is having it. One small town canceled and asked for donations to hand out at the park. Everyone asked them what the difference was except for town hall getting the credit.

I haven't heard that. Just suggestions about safely handing out candy. It can all change though.

We are a rural area so the church's have done trunk or treats for years. Some still are this year while others opted out. Even though we live within city limits we only have had 8 ever come to our door on Halloween. We've lived her 29 years. They canceled the Christmas parade after having it for 73 years. They are going to try and have a virtual parade. Don't think too many are happy with that as everything since March has been screens, work and school.

I don't know what to expect this year or what to do about it, but our Christmas Parade has been cancelled as well. This is definitely a year we won't forget.

I don't know. We never get any trick-or-treaters; so we just keep the porch light off.

@Hate2Iron When we lived in Cleveland when I was young, we used to get so many we'd run out of candy.

It seems the Coronavirus continues to affect things we took for granted. Halloween cancelations and probably no traveling from state to state (in the U.S.) come Thanksgiving. And I would think no Santa Claus in the Malls for children to see. Definitely a world disrupted!

Aw, so sad! Oahu's Halloween isn't cancelled, but every festivity us either virtual or in cars. Experts ate saying keep children home & do fun in home Halloween things.
