Have any of you ever heard or saw The Queen's Gambit on Netflix or on TV?

I am watching it now. Have any of you had any interest in mastering the game of chess? Do you play it for fun? I think she is about 13 years old and is very very good at it. I have never learned how to play chess and sometimes wondered if I would be any good at it. How many of you play? I have played checkers but never chess.

I watched this too but earlier this month. I've played chess before but only for fun my husband played more than me but I doubt he is anywhere close to her expertise.

@Hannihar I really liked it too. I also liked the songs they played, the oldies from that time period. They did a good job representing the era to.

I have come across the title but not seen it. My husband pays very good chess with my elder daughter. I know the game but not much interested in it. My brother played it till national level in his High school.

@Hannihar After going to engineering college he couldn't find time to pursue it professionally. But even now he always plays ( many a times alone) in his free time.

I've seen the trailer and read some reviews. Friends also told me about.
Haven't watched it though.
Played chess but never really excelled at it.

@Hannihar the trailer was fine. It didn't show much of the movie but it had enough to get one's interest.
I just wanted to learn something new at that time so I studied how to play chess.

So what did you think of the trailer? I did not get into it till she was well into the orphanage playing chess with the janitor. What made you want to learn chess?

@Hannihar I admire people who have the ability to play chess. I dont think I have the concentration needed but I am interested in seeing that movie. I put it on my "to watch" list already

Yes Hanni! I have heard of it. My brother recommended the series and will be watching it soon. I'm currently watching a weird series called The Haunting of Bly Manor. I was very much into Chess as a teen.

You are very right the Bly Manor one is very strange. I hope you like Queen's Gambit. I really liked it. I do not play chess but I was drawn to it for some reason which I have no idea.

That is fine. I do not play chess either, but, there was something about this story that I wanted to continue to watch it to the end to see how it turns out. Not sure if that is it or there will be another season to it.

I was eyeing on this film to watch. Is it good? I taught all my children to play chess. It used to be fun when they were little and in early teens.

@Hannihar I've set it up a little while ago. I asked my son if he'd like to p;ay with me tomorrow. My grandkids (6 and 4) are staying all day with us tomorrow. So, I set up the chess board on our coffee table.
