Day 92 Promise 551 Acts 10:9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: 10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, 11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: 12 Wherein were all manner of four-footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. 13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean. 15 And the voice spoke unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. People are judgmental about things they don’t understand. They want to stay inside their little world and not leave their comfort zone for any reason. Peter, a Jew, didn’t do anything against what he learned from his youth from the law and what Jesus taught him during His ministry. To associate with people who weren’t Jews, or eat unclean animals went against his upbringing. However, God told him the time had come to put away those ideas. As Christians, you don’t associate with those who don’t know Jesus as Savior and Lord, but with those who do. You have something in common with them. Jesus told the disciples to go to the nations and preach the gospel to everyone who would listen so they could receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. The disciples stuck close to home. They needed motivation to leave their comfort zone and expand their ministry. Jesus provided the action needed to get them out and witness to the world. He had Cornelius send for Peter so he could bring them the gospel of Jesus Christ. However, He needed to prepare him first. Be aware of how God will use you to bring salvation to others. God’s agenda is for the entire world to know Him and accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. Not everyone will accept Him. Yet you are to be aware of the need for obedience. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. God sent Peter to Cornelius. Where is God sending you? Let’s pray: Father, help me to be ready to do Your will and go where You send me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
