It turns out that there are many things that are considered taboo in the east but are understandable in western culture, some of the things I know are like: 1.stopping the vehicle with the right hand (in the east), it is not polite to use the left hand (but this is understandable in the west using the left hand) 2. Eat with the right hand (Eastern culture), but in the West the fork is put in the left hand and feeds food with the left hand What do you think ? do you know the eastern and western cultures which we usually consider taboo but are actually tolerated by western culture? let's share

These aren't really taboos. A taboo is something like marrying a cousin.

I would call these examples superstitions, not taboos. The West has some taboos, but they are not the same for every country. For example in France asking the wages of somebody, including coworkers, is a taboo.

In Germany, it's not a taboo to ask someone how much they earn. I find this word too harsh. But it isn't done. Italians, however, have no problems discussing their wages.

Personally I find a lot of eastern culture to be a bit archaic. But it's the culture, so I can't knock it.

@youfiq Archaic as in old fashioned, outdated, and useless.

Interesting topic I know that western people are less conservative than eastern people. However it's really hard to talk about taboos without travelling around the world and having to seen my own eyes. I hardly believe in internet facts because it's very generalize and not detailed. Humans are complex and their culture can be even more complex. Can someone share more examples of Taboo
