Hullo to all my myLot friends. I may not have been around much this year, but I do think of you all often. It's Christmas Day here in New Zealand. Summer sun shining. We're all very thankful to be enoying Christmas with no restrictions, unlike many of you. This photo was taken at Worser Bay, Wellington, NZ last week. That's a beautiful photo Val. Things aren't very good in England at present, we're in lockdown. I'm allowed to be with my family on Christmas Day so I'll make the most of it. Best wishes to you.

Yes, we hear about how things are going for you on TV. At least you could be with family on Christmas Day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we don't have a resurgence here, that new strain sounds as if it moves quickly. Our borders are still closed to most people and returning NZ residents have to go into managed isolation for two weeks when they arrive back.

It's pohutukawa. We call it the New Zealand Xhristmas tree as it starts flowering in December.

Thanks Valerie. Yes, we had a lovely day thank you. And in answer to your question somewhere else, no, I haven't received a Christmas card. The mail from UK has been remarkably fast this year, obviously not with the US.

Hope the hot lunch was manageable in your heat - especially if you were the one preparing it. We haven't had a hot Christmas meal for many years. Either a barbecue or cold meats and salads here.

Long time no read! I thought you had left for good. I'm glad to see that this is not the case. I've read in the newspaper that New Zealand is now free of Covid-19. Congratulations! Of course, it's easier to fight the spreading of a virus on an island than in a country in the heart of a continent. Germany has borders with nine (!) countries.

Yes, our borders are closed to all but returning NZ residents - and they have to go into managed isolation for two weeks at their own cost when they arrive back. We were lucky our Prime Minister closed our borders very quickly at the end of February.
