I've been writing a few limericks lately and miss the banter that Koalemos (Asylum/ Barry) and I used to have.
I don't think I ever saw him put up one of his own, but he always jumped in on mine. Here's an example - I've copied the comments just as he wrote them. For those of you who don't know, he died a couple of years ago.
Koalemos...
Oh no, not limericks again
They are starting to drive me insane
But what do you expect?
When you know they affect
What is left of what once was my brain
Jabo...
Now Barry, you know there's no law
that decrees we should go to war
with our silly lines
to see who out-shines,
we'll make our heads ache, I am sure.
Koalemos...
You know I can never resist
But despite that you still persist
You know I will be tempted
But end up quite demented
As my mind end up clouded in mist
Jabo...
Wot? You comin' at me again?
It's clear that my rhyming's in vain,
shall we call a pax
chill out and relax,
and you go back into your den?
Koalemos...
I know that you just enjoy haunting
Me with Limericks that you keep flaunting
No matter how hard I try
To turn a blind eye
You return with your constant taunting.

You know I'm all lim'ricked out,
of that there's not a slight doubt,
I'm out of ideas
I'm hearing your jeers,
I concede, you win, I am OUT.

Yes he is very much missed and l miss his quips! He was a real gent a very good kind man! We used to tease each other about our travels l told him he spends more time abroad than he does in this country & that he should claim tax back as an overseas resident.I knew him off line as well he really was a very good man but it was terribly sad how quickly he deteriorated and passed away. At least he is no longer suffering and his legacy carries on through you which always raised a laugh!
Hope you are keeping well Janet hopefully once the vaccine is rolled out things may start getting back to normal. You should be getting your vaccine some time soon. Do let us know if you have grown two heads or sprouted feathers if you haven't then it will be safe for us to have it too!

He did love going abroad, yes. I remember that you knew him personally too, I wish I had taken the time to go and see him, especially when he was ill.
I have loads more of his stuff written as comments on my limerick posts - may resurrect more of those sometime.
I'll let you know when I've had the vaccine, I've heard nothing yet.

I miss Barry. He and I used to have some good back and forth bantering as well. I'm glad we're keeping his spirit alive here on myLot.

@Namelesss There are a few people on the site who write great limericks but they are mostly ladies. I need a man as a sparring partner as we women are too nice to each other

I miss him so much. I have a stack of postcards from his many vacations. He was great friend and I always had hopes that someday we would share a coffee. RIP dear friend.

@JudyEv Of course I wasn't offended. Yes you are very good at limericks, joining in when Barry was alive, and still joining in now. The thing is we need a man to tease us in order to get a chain going - we ladies are too nice to each other

The post I took this from was in 2015 and it doesn't look as if you'd done any limericks by then - here's what you wrote on that post:
