Soup Tonight

It as a rainy morning till about ten this morning when sis and I started out to get vegetables for the soup I had already planned for tonight. The sun came out bright and the temps warmed to the mid 60s for a short time before dropping back into the low 50s here at 3:30pm . I was disappointed today going to 2 farmer's markets and not finding any kind of beans or peas (which is unusual because we get a lot of produce from South Florida. So I had to settle for frozen vegetables of Italian green beans (also known as pole beans), field peas with snaps, baby limas, speckled butterbeans, crowder peas, white acre peas, sweet peas, cut okra, corn along with fresh baby carrots, cabbage, onions, garlic and potatoes. There is also beef and can tomato with the oinions and garlic which I started firstand then added the tomatoes. Really looking forward to having hot soup tonight.

Your soup sounds so hearty and delicious and perfect for a damp, cold day. I just bought french green beans from Florida. Odd.

@Elizaby It's hit or miss here, but I've been lucky often enough with fruits and veggies. Dying for fresh, juicy, plump strawberries!

Because it's up to various distribitors. And, frozen lasts longer. Last summer we started having shortages right and left, so farmers are scrambling to save their crops. Freezing them is one way to do it. And, cheeper stores also get things at a lower cost.@Elizaby

Your soup sounds really delicious. I cannot shop for fresh veggies regularly so I keep some frozen and canned on hand,

We had chili tonight. I forgot to buy a can of sauce for the liquid so used a jar of salsa and added some water. Later I realized I could have just added water but I didn't think about that soon enough. After doctoring it with cumin and chili powder no one was the wiser.
