Winter can be sort of pretty

As much as I'm not a cold weather person, I will admit that winter can, in it's own way, be sort of pretty. Here for the past week or so we've been having a lot of fog, which results in coating the trees and most of everything else, too, with a thick, furry layer of fluffy frost. It's beautiful. I like it. The frost doesn't need the same removal efforts as the snow does, and other than perhaps making the roads a tiny bit more slippery, it isn't a hazard. (Now the fog and visibility might be an issue) - and it's beautiful. Photo is mine of some of the beautiful frost. I think I will go out today and try to get more pictures. Yesterday the frost didn't melt off at all, which is rare. Usually with the sunlight from the day the frost will melt off early. Photo: Mine

Photo didn't load or I arrived too soon to see it. I prefer the look of winter in Florida.

How's the look of winter in Florida? It's different from the normal winter view?

@prinzcy There is no snow in South Florida, but we aren't going this year due to the pandemic. Otherwise it's full of green, turquoise water, and colorful flowers.

Ha ha. Well. In a climate where it is cold and winter like 6 months out of the year it's easy to see it as dull, grey, cold and stark.

@Cheyee So true, we want what we don't have. I think that is the first time I've heard snow referred to as a dream. We have some supposed to be coming Thurs and Fri here. Ugh. If I could send it to you instead, I would.

@FayeHazel oh because you used to it. I am from tropical country. Snow is like a dream, we only see it on TV or magazines

For some reason the site didn't let me upload right away. I don't like the fog, as much as I like the frost it deposits on the trees :-)

Certainly the trees look pretty covered in white, whether it's frost or snow.

SO true. Seems like the frost goes actually thicker on the trees than outright snowfall .

I do agree trees with a dusty layer of snow on them are a pretty sight to behold. I remember in college walking through campus on my way to study at the library in the early evening and noticing just such a sight. What really was very vivid to me was the still and quiet as if the snow muffled all the noise around the area. Quite a memory!

@dgobucks226 Lovely. Yknow, there's a little stream behind my apartment building. I can never quite capture it with a camera... but yeah I think I know what you're saying

Sometimes I like the starkness of winter, and of course, like you mentioned, the effect the frost has on the trees.

I like fog, too. Still not crazy about winter, though. Maybe it will grow on me in time.

@FayeHazel That sounds like something that could be provided by a TV network, something like Winter TV.

Ha ha, ah yes my friend, I don't think winter will grow on me any more than occasionally enjoying the fog that turns into frost

@xander6464 Hm. Interesting idea. "Winter TV : your network for feeling cold, dark and dreary" Oooo, one of my better taglines....

I like fog and had a lot of fog experience in my growing up years in Delhi. It's not so common here. Not sure why I can't see the picture.

For some reason the site wouldn't let me upload the photo right away. So I waited a bit and fixed it :-) Fog is so otherworldly isn't it?
