The senior living facility where I love is scheduled to get our first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine. Has anyone gotten theirs? Any reactions? Any thoughts?
Due to underlying health issues, I wanted to make sure it was okay. My primary care physician signed off today as recommending me getting it; but I have to admit that I am a little nervous about the side effects.

As you should be. Little is known about it. However, it was rushed and is being mass produced as quickly as possible. You couldn't pay me to get it, thank you very much.

@teresatrotter Well, you still have the right to say 'no'. You're literally allowing them to give you COVID.

@kaylachan Well thank you for scaring the heck out of me. Everyone else I know hasn't gotten Covid yet, so maybe I won't either.

That was my original reaction, but I am slowly changing my mind. But it needs to change quick, since the vaccine will be administered this Friday. LOL

I have not and don't know anyone personally who has. I do not trust it although to be honest I really have no real reason not to. I know from working in the medical field in the past that it take years for injectables and other medications to be approved and on the market so I don't understand how this is on the market in less than a year. That alone makes me worry about it.
I wish you the best with it and hope all goes well with it.

@teresatrotter I'm glad there are people out there willing to get it cause then I can see what happens to them and see if I want to take it.

I’m still showing the antibodies from having had a positive diagnosis in mid-December. As a result, I don’t think the’d give me the vaccine.

I have a friend who had the virus for a couple of months, and just a week ago finally tested negative. They told her to get the vaccine right away; because the immune antibodies from the virus only last two to three months. And the vaccine can help keep you from getting it again, way better than just depending upon the antibodies. So my guess... They would let you get the vaccine. She has gotten the first shot, and ran a slight fever for a few days, but is fine now. However, she did not have the virus that bad. Just lost of taste, smell, and a slight fever.

Well... We can let things scare us, or we can do what we can to research it...and make the best decision that best fits our needs. This is my plan. Nothing is etched in stone. I have known people who die getting the flu shot. Nothing on this earth is guaranteed.
