$850 Million

Holy smokes. No one has won the MegaMillions yet, and the next drawing is this coming Tuesday, the 19th. The jackpot is up to $850 million. When the jackpots grow this high, of course more people tend to play, and it becomes more and more likely someone will win. Why? Because as more tickets are sold, a higher percentage of possible number combinations is usually out. Once there are roughly about 85% of all possible number combinations in circulation... Someone tends to win. If I take the cash option, after taxes this jackpot would be worth a take home amount of about $255 million. A far cry from the $850 million, but still a lot of money, and more than I would ever need. I average about a 6-10% return on my investments. So, if I invested it all my annual income would be about $15.3 million to $25.5 million. Hmm. Very intriguing if you ask me. lol At the same time, I almost hope nobody wins it this Tuesday. Two reasons. 1) I KNOW it won't be me. The odds are horrible. And 2) if nobody wins this one, the possibility that the jackpot rolls to over $1 billion is pretty high. Whether or not I have a lion's chance in hell of ever winning a dime, it IS still fun to see a jackpot out there worth a billion bucks.

I don't bet on lottery. It's a waste of money.

So many things are a waste of money. Why pick one that might actually provide a return?

@Nakitakona I bet they'd be happy with $850 million. But of course, I know you can't get a MegaMillions there anyway. lol

@Blondie2222 You will definitely have to make sure to get some now. Nobody won and it has now rolled to $970 million and by the time the drawing comes on Friday it might be over $1 billion.

I have a sneaking suspicion this thing will roll once more and get above a billion bucks. But I do know when the amounts get this high a higher percentage of possible number combinations is out there and therefore it is more likely someone wins.

Wow all that money. Our stimulus is such a pittance compared to this jackpot!

@porwest Well, Pres. Elect Biden promises $1400 more aside if $600 now everyone should have gotten by now. If not check irs.gov.

@oahuwriter These stimulus checks from the government aren't going to do anyone any good. I will still take the money even though I know it's not free and we are all going to have to pay it back.

@freelancermariagrace Ah. But so many things are. Why pick something that could potentially make you a multi-millionaire? lol

I should buy a ticket. You can't win if you don't buy!

This is a definite truth. My chances are horrible, but worse without a ticket.

@CarolDM And now, like the idiot I am, I have about 13 tickets. Oh wait. I need to buy one more. 13 is not a lucky number. Thankfully I can buy a ticket online. Wait one. I am off to get that 14th ticket as we speak.
