Working in retail

February 6, 2021 4:01am CST
I currently work in a Tesco and I only started in November 2020, but I already hate it. Has anybody else worked in retail? Did you like or dislike it? And if you disliked it, did it get better?

Yes I have worked in many retail jobs. I never hated many jobs honestly, it was the rotten boss that hate it. I am sorry you are not having fun at Tesco. What exactly are they doing to you?

I just try to check my job responsibilities. If I do not like them, then I will just quit the job and find another one that is suitable for me.

Worked in retail for a good five years. Started as a staff and then eventually got promoted until I became a store manager. Loved the experience over-all. There were ups and downs but took everything in stride.

@omgitsajenny Did you get paid well when you were store manager? Yes, at that time, it was good money already. What made you enjoy it? It was a music retail store so I enjoyed it immensely.

I never work in retail but I never like any of my jobs. Except when the time I am working for myself. But I got paid well on those jobs, that's why I stayed. Money is important to me.

Hi, welcome to mylot. I worked in retail when I was in college it was just a part-time job because at that time I was still studying. I must say I kinda like it because I didn't have to do anything but it was tiring to stand all day long so for that I disliked it.

If you are not happy with your work then better leave it but before doing you should have looked for another. Your stress will be more stressful everyday because of the hate living inside of you.

Retail is notoriously disliked. It is very difficult. Some personalities can tolerate it more than others. It depends on how you respond to unfair criticism and people who are being abusive in their words because customers can definitely get like that sometimes. If you don't have to work with the public, such jobs can still have some weird politics, but I guess that is most jobs. Take notice of what aspects of the job you like and dislike and enjoy what you can about the present whilst keeping your future in mind. Build to what you want in life. It's just a job, so don't let it get to you and consider it a stepping stone. See what you can get out of this experience and apply it to future jobs.
