Almost a year, now I am off... To market. My friend asked me if i can cook "sinigang na baboy"(stewed pork in sour broth/soup), as a good friend, you know the answer. So I went to the market as early as I CAN, I said I CAN and not as possible.. Getting there earlier means, lesser people, still scaredy cat. I have my list with me, so that buying won't take long, for lesser possible exposure. But... Yes, another but is coming... I saw this edible fern we called "pako", and guess what? You know again what I just did, right? It has been a long time since i ate "pako", and out of curiosity, I did even asked the seller where she get those since I only eat "pako" when i am in Cagayan Valley. I bought three bunches for 50 pesos or more than $1. Do you buy things or food too that is out of your list because you hadn't have it for a long time?

Yes, I have a tendency to buy one impulse item at least once during a grocery run. I try to avoid doing so, because I understand cash can be limited, but I'm careful.

yes, i know pako (fern) but seldom see them here. and the rare times they are available, mother would turn up her nose if they're not superfresh. after all, they grew up in the province so these things are readily available.

Lately, I have been short on money so I keep to what I really need but if there is anything I really would like and it is on sale I will buy it

You were smart to go early and are a good friend. I used to try to stick to a list, but now I see it and buy it! That was a great deal!

It's call paku-pakis here. I haven't eat that for so long. Not easy to get them here unless I go to the wet market where there are sellers that sell items they picked from the woods.

indeed. it is hard to find here. we don't have that much area where it can live or even survive

yes, i do that sometimes - usually junk food/unhealthy food. Yours is a better choice.

I try to stick on my list, because I plan my meals and I buy according to what I decided to make. Of course if I see something that is not always available and we like, I buy.

Yummy! I love pako. I always got into buying mood when I was in the wet market in the Philippines. My eyes got big because of the variety of veggies that I have not eaten for a long time. Then I bought a lot as if I have veggie party going on.

This is the first time I saw a pako. So how was your sinigang na baboy? Did your friend like it?
