What constitutes a common law marriage in Texas. I am currently dating a man who resided with a woman who says they were common law marriage because his mother once introduced them as husband and wife.

Commonlaw has to constitute 5 things to be legal.
1. Address yourself as husband and wife to others and act as husband and wife to each other;
2. Sign a legal document (such as a lease, loan document, etc.) as husband and wife;
3. File income tax as husband and wife;
4. Live together longer than 6 months; and
5. Reside in the state of Texas longer than 6 months;
