Update 4/20/21 - Other House

I decided that with the hot real estate market these days that we should try selling the house through conventional methods for 60 days. This is a complete 360 for me since I didn't want to put another dime into the house. We will still have to pay for insurance, taxes, maintenance and utilities during that period. BUT we stand to get twice as much for the house than if we would have sold it to a cash buyer/flipper.
My husband agreed; and our little housekeeper, who just got her real estate license, is going to list it for us.
Thought you'd like to know since you are aware of the angst that this house has caused me!
Have a great day and stay safe, healthy and happy!
What are you up to today?

Thanks. If it doesn't sell, it will still be summer; and we can get rid of it selling to a flipper.

Found out the minimum listing is 6 months. We are still tossing that around.

Thanks, Jim. The present housing situation was just too tempting.

@LindaOHio This is not the market to find a cash buyer. This is the time to buy someone who just wants a house. I can almost bet you will get at least 25% more than asking. Keep us posted.

@porwest Will do. We are tossing things around because the minimum listing is 6 months. I don't want to put out several thousand more; but if the house sells right away.....

Sounds like a plan. I believe you can sell it in a good price.

I think given how hot the market is, you should be able to sell
It. Those cash buyers will try to rip you off. We get letters from them all the time about our Florida house. I called one just for kicks and he wanted to give us $70,000 . I laughed at him. Nothing is selling for under $125 000 in our neighborhood and our house is nice. It’s a joke. I might have gotten an experienced agent however but I understand why you did what you did.

@LindaOHio Did you inherit this house or something? I am not sure I know the story. I have to admit having three houses gets to be a bit much at times. lol

@BelleStarr We moved out of the house 16 years ago. We rented it for a few years; but it's been mostly empty. I am tired of spending our retirement money for nothing!!! The real estate company has agreed to a 60-day contract (their contracts are usually 6 months to a year). (see my latest post).

Actually, I would be happy with $70,000 just to get rid of it; but we shall see.

@LindaOHio those are under $10.000 so you should have plenty of extra.

@LindaOHio That is a good idea, a backup generator for the whole house should be from 6,000 to 8,000.

Yes, I've heard the housing market has been really crazy with people wanting to leave the cities. Can't blame them with the increase in city violence and the call to defund the police.
Good luck with your sale!

Thank you! There was another spike in home sales recently; so I'm hoping we can get in on the trend.
