Have you ever had to get in a long line and then see someone cut in ahead of you? This is one of my top irritants. I suppose that in the grand scheme of things it really isn't a big deal but it has always bothered me greatly. I remember once being at a theme park and had some kids try to shove past me to cut in line. I was in an ideal situation to block their advance. So I did. They threatened to scream I was improperly touching them. ( I was holding on to a post and they were pushing up against my arm. ) I told them to go for it and reminded them there were cameras overhead. To my pleasure, When we got to the ride, three security people were there and escorted the kids out the front gate of the park. (I know this because they were still sitting out there when we left an hour and a half later.) I never said a word to anyone working at the park about it. Evidently, they had been watching on the cameras that monitored the lines. Had a similar situation happen this morning. Inline to get a free load of compost from the county. I had just crossed an intersection. The vehicle behind me had stayed back to keep the intersection open. Well, a lady in a minivan pulled in behind me and blocked the intersection. This did not directly affect me but I saw that two people in the line got out of their trucks and came up and spoke to her. I suppose I could have said and done nothing but, that is not who I am. When I got to the gate I spoke with the person directing traffic and told them what had happened. I noted that when I was loaded and ready to leave, the person at the gate had directed the woman to park to one side and let the other vehicles go ahead of her. (The woman tried to cut in and go directly for the load only to have others that were working there step in front of her van and stop her.) There is some justice in this world. And bullies and cheats have no place in it so far as I am concerned.

That's great that those people were all stopped from cutting in. It doesn't go down well in Australia either.

I was pleasantly surprised that the gate monitor took action. All too often they just shrug and choose to ignore it.

@cperry2 And if it's ignored, it just encourages those folk to try it again next time.

@JudyEv Exactly right. And I felt good about turning them in.

That is annoying. I haven't had to cope with blatant pushing in on foot since the school lunch queue all these years ago, but drivers do tend to do it.

They do. This happened behind me and I saw how annoyed and upset it made those that were behind where that person cut in. I was happy to report the driver and ecstatic that the gate monitor chose to act on my information. She could have done nothing. Turns out she shares my dislike for line cutters.

I also feel so bad when people try to cut the big line.
