Three Years Ago

Three years ago I was finally diagnosed with a condition called Intercystitial Cystitis. For one year I suffered abdominal and pelvic pain along with UTI symptoms. I was tested for only a few things. A UTI, kidney infection and STD's. All of course were negative. My GYN was actually the one to suggest changing a few things and see if it helps. When the symptoms had died down just a little, she told me about IC. After that, I stopped everything. I stopped moving as much, I watched what I ate and drank to anal levels. I lived like that for three years. It took me that long to get fed up. This is not who I am. I do not sit around and ask people to do things for me. I do not like my weight, I've never weighed so much ever. I have never sat on my butt and done nothing. My fear of the pain, that by the way never goes away anyway, kept me from living. I am so done. I have now started to exercise again. It's my first step to living again. Will I have pain? Yes I will. Will I live? Yes I will. I will live and have stories to tell to my kids when we have them. If I can play with the kids when we see them in Maryland then I can do this. Today I started exercising and I've been doing a little with the guys at Engine 68. We're all meeting up again today and I can't wait. My husband is totally supporting me. He also wants me to check out the fire side of the department lol. I will succeed because I refuse to fail.

There isn't a cure for it. Just management

@mildredtabitha I was just told about a new medication that can help with the pain, but this is something that you just live with. I can't remember if it's hormone or not, I looked up the specifics when I was diagnosed and what stuck with me was no cure.

Sorry to hear of your ailment. If there's no medical cure maybe you can try alternative medicine. True you need to manage the illness and avoid something that will cause much pain.

@JordanLader one alternative doctor said that our body regenerates every year as long as we do not abuse our body, I hope you will fully recover.

Thank you!! I'm just tired of not living. My husband has been encouraging me to do more in the Fire department. I'm not on the Rehab team but he wants me to do more. I kind of want to but I'm also worried I can't handle it. So, exercise first lol.
