No more masks in NY or so I thought...

Seems that the indoor mask mandate in New York will be gone starting tomorrow. I was really happy about that as I can't stand the damn mask. However, it turns out that it only applies to vaccinated people. Unvaccinated people still have to wear a mask. At least that is what I understood. Wonder how they are gonna deal with that. Anyone can say they are vaccinated just so they don't have to wear a mask. The only way to know for sure is to require people to show proof of vaccination. But if they are gonna do that it will slow things down and will annoy people too, I'm sure. Also, vaccinated people can still be positive and can still spread it to others, so technically just because they are vaccinated doesn't make things 100% safe for others.

I agree. That's why we will still wear our masks even though we are vaccinated.

@lovebuglena One mask. At our age we definitely don't want to catch or transmit the virus.

Our governor has relaxed the mask mandate but hasn't totally eliminated it. I will keep mine on when I'm around other people.

From what I read today I understood that when it comes to live events there will supposedly be sections for vaccinated people and sections for unvaccinated people. But what if it is a family attending an event, where some are vaccinated and some are not. Will the family be split up?

@RebeccasFarm You can have a family where there are two parents and two kids. Parents are vaccinated and their little kids are not. Then what? You can't put the kids separate from the parents. Unless this rule wouldn't apply to little kids.

The bottom line is this; the masks are done. Finished. Kaput. People who want to wear them will wear them. People who do not want to wear them will not. Vaccination or no, no one knows, and no one will ever know. So, this is really just the CDC playing semantics, because there is no way to police this. And you are right. Vaccination does not guarantee those vaccinated cannot get Covid. Many vaccinated people still got Covid. So, the whole thing is moot. Kind of like the whole thing was from the start, only now we're sort of fessing up to it. Normal starts now and it is high time.

I went to Trader Joe's today and put on my mask simply so I don't have to deal with it if they ask me to put one on if they see me without it. Hubby walked in without a mask and no one told him anything. Neither did anyone say anything to him at Home Depot. But in Chase, the teller told him to put on a mask and when he said he didn't have one she gave him one. I should've checked to see if Trader Joe's still had a sign up that masks are required.

People get vaccinated and they still wear a mask, even outside. em]shocked[/em] And they keep doing the same things they were doing when there was no vaccine. I thought the vaccine is supposed to make people feel safer and more relaxed about covid. Guess not. Unless it is the brainwashing from the so-called experts.

@lovebuglena That's the one thing no one (or at least few) can grasp. If getting vaccinated doesn't allow us to go back to normal, then what is the point of the vaccine? It boggles the mind how easily everyone was duped, and how easy it has been to continue to dupe people. This whole thing was never about Covid from day one. It was always about other things.

I agree, many can't stand the Mask any more. I am an asthmatic, Having an expecting wife, Father with Chronic blood cancer, And Mom with Low immunity as her body don't produce Protein and B 12, Was Anaemic. I can't stand the Damn mask, I am Vaccinated. But, I don't have an option. Can't risk rest 3 at home. I am the only one going out for necessities. I have to have the Mask on till the the world is safe again.

Can you breathe normally in a mask? And do you feel fine when you wear it? I sometimes get hot when I wear a mask or find it suffocating, even though I have no health issues.

@Pani2202 And if we need to sneeze we end up sneezing into the mask, which is not good.

@lovebuglena You are right. It is not easy breathing through a mask. It is irritating if you use glasses. We are at tropical area, So it sweat a lot also. It is even difficult when Government asked to put on double mask. I searched for a Mask with HEPA, 6 stage filtration and a ventilator fan in it. Had no other option than the mask.

i am not planning on getting the vaccine either. And I only wear a mask if I have to take a bus or go shopping as they won't let you in without it. Even restaurants, when you walk in without a mask they tell you to put it on.

@lovebuglena They opened things up months ago. Walmart has signs up, but they can't inforce it because the statewide bans have been dropped.

good news because NY has started to remove masks, hopefully there will be no more positive cases. some people who have been vaccinated can still be positive for covid, and even though I have been vaccinated, I continue to use masks, to protect myself and others
