Where does the phrase "You're nicked" originate from?

I'd like to know where the phrase "you're nicked" comes from, as in you're arrested, in UK. I can think of other slang terms for being arrested in UK, such as "you're pinched", "you've been had" but no others but it's the you're nicked I'd like to know how it originated. Anyone know?
