Problems starting engine.

When I press the starter button (& with new battery) it just makes a clicking sound. I have an data tool 3 alarm system. Power goes to the lights etc and alarm works. Previously on starting it sounded to me the battery was loosing power but now could be dead. New charged (charging)battery does not seem to want to turn the bike engine over. Any suggestions please?????? Regards, Keith.
