Day 32 Exodus 7:8 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 9 “When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for you:’ then thou shalt say unto Aaron, ‘Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.’” 10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. 11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. 12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods. 13 And he hardened Pharaoh’s heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said. Have you considered what prayer is and what it’s not? For many people, prayer is pleading with God to do something for them. In my younger days, prayer was one-sided. It was what I needed; not what God required from me. God spoke to Moses and Aaron about what they needed to do to carry out God’s plan. Most people don’t think of this conversation as prayer. Yet, it was the only way God could convey His plan to them. It meant they spent many hours with God so they could know Him intimately. When He told them to go to Pharaoh, He gave them specific instructions. He knew Pharaoh would demand a sign. When Moses and Aaron provided the sign, Pharaoh countered the sign, only to find his proof that God didn’t exist foiled by God’s plan. As Christians, how much time do you spend in prayer? Do you wait for God to give you instructions for the day? Or do you ask God for your needs and go on your way without waiting for an answer? God wanted to spend time with His people. He knew their terrible bondage and told Moses and Aaron what they needed to do so His people could spend time with Him. God wants to spend time with you. He wants to show you His love and pour out a blessing on you you cannot contain. Yet to receive the blessing, you need to spend time in His presence. When Pharaoh demanded a sign, he was ready to counter anything they would present. When you spend time with God, Satan will come against you. He will do everything he can to refute God’s Word. He will tell you you didn’t hear from God. It was your imagination. Satan will bring about his signs to persuade you to join his side. Yet when you are close to God, nothing Satan can do will succeed. It’s time to step up your prayer life. Spend time in God’s presence long enough to know what God’s plans are for you today. Let Him know it’s not just about you. Let’s pray: Father, Your will be done in my life today. Help me spend time with You to know Your heart, to feel Your presence, and know nothing Satan can do will succeed. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Prayers are powerful and for me prayers are a way to connect to Almighty. I have no fixed time to communicate with my God. I do it every now and then.
