Some criminals target a specific group of people like people with special needs, and I just read about one of those cases. The victim was an intellectually disabled woman from my country. A man contacted her on facebook and they arranged a meeting. When they met she told him that she had some financial problems, and he offered to help her. She was happy that he wanted to help her, and she thought it was really nice of him. Unfortunately her new "friend" was a scammer. He told her that he needed her passport, her digital ID and her health card and she gave him everything he asked for You can probably guess how it ended. He used her ID and he managed to spend 200000 kr (about $31000) before he was caught. When he was caught he said: "Yes, I did it. I scammed her, but I had to do it, I needed the money." He also said that it wasn't his fault that she liked him He managed to scam 14 people and many of them had intellectual disabilities.

@Porcospino @marlina I understand people needing money, but those scammers work just as hard at stealing it as they would doing a real job. I just don't get it.

I hope he get the maximum sentence for his crime. I do not like people who take advantage of others for any reason.

Yes, unfortunately that happens quite often. There have been other cases from my country for instance cases where the scammers pretended to be from the police.

@prashu228 Yes, it is, and some of them manage to scam many people before they are caught. If they have access to people's digital IDs they can do a lot of things, like borrow money and buy expensive things.

I am reading that this is happening in many European countries. It is a shame and a scandal, those people must be seriously punished.

Yes, they target people who are vulnerable. I hope this man gets the punishment he deserves. It was so sad to read about the woman, she kept repeating how nice it was that the man wanted to help her.

@LadyDuck I agree. I am not why sure what punishment this man will get. I only know that he was caught when the woman's mother reported him to the police.

Scammers would do anything to steal money. They don't have limits.

He definitely deserves a long jail term. He really took advantage of that woman, and when she realised what was going on it was too late.
