Such A Good Few Days

This is a difficult time of year for us. My son-in-law John died two years ago on August 19th. This year my daughter arranged for her 5 boys me and her mother in law to go to Newport Rhode Island together that day.
We met at St Joseph Church at noon and attended Mass we then went to the Newport Auto Museum together. What a very nice museum it is. They have carts from the 1950's to current. It is one man's collection and with 85 cars it is mind-boggling.
We then went to Coddington Brewing Company for linner (lunch/dinner). It was wonderful to be together with my 5 grandsons and to remember all the things we loved about John. He would have really enjoyed visiting this museum.
My son Steve and grandson Danny stayed with Al and had a great day with him. On Friday I had a dentist appointment to check my post and graft and all is going well.
On Saturday Irene came to play scrabble and then Kasey's first boyfriend, his wife and daughter came over for lunch. It was so nice to see home and get to know his family better. Al was up in the wheelchair with us and then Chris helped him walk out to sit on the deck with Kasey's boys who were visiting.
It was amazing to see him sitting on the deck in a chair and interacting. He even ate half a hamburger. Such a good day.
Today Al slept late, we are being hit by tropical storm Henri, heavy rain but not too much wind thank goodness. He is a little tuckered today after his big day yesterday but he ate scrambled eggs for breakfast and some Salisbury steak and mac and cheese for lunch.
He is getting really frustrated by the hospital bed and the sides being up, he is demanding the cage be left down, it is a very good sign in my book!!
Chris and I cooked together and made scampi chicken, which was really delicious.
I am feeling positive in a way I haven't for a while but this illness has been so crazy that I am afraid to think the worst might be behind us and Al might be on the road to recovery. One thing I do know, we had a few wonderful days and I am cherishing them.

I do thank him for every minute that I get with my wonderful hubs. Al has been so frustrated that it is good for him to feel like maybe there is hope.

Yes, it is hard to believe that John has been gone for 2 years. He certainly is not forgotten.

Connecticut pretty much dodged a bullet this time. Yes it has been a rough couple of years and now Brandon had a cardiac event after his second vaccine. He needs to go to a cardiologist, we're afraid it is the problems teens get, he is only 22 and it was Moderna. So scary, he had severe chest pain and couldn't breathe.

@BelleStarr I read about it on another of your posts and commented. Never a dull minute. I hope he will be okay.

Thank you, we were lucky with the turn that the tropical storm took that we didn't take a direct hit in our town.
