I have read quite a few in the series also. Chicken Soup books are a wonderful pick me up, when I am having a bad day or a rough time. I love the Mother's Soul book also. Another one of my favorites is Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul. It is great. I hope to write a story for them next year, for one of the upcoming anthologies.

yes, i have a copy of the original one, very good book. and yes there are a lot of other versions now - for the fisherman's soul, for the petlover's soul, for the marketer's soul, preteen soul, teenage soul - goes to show it successfully got its own market niche. wondrin when they'd come up with chicken soup for fluteplayer's soul, eheheh.

I have not read this book, though I read lot of books. In fact we are vegetarians and my son too is vegetarian and he hates anything connected with non-veg. I was a distributor for KNORR Soups and in my office, my son was helping the boys in picking the material for distribution. There are so many varieties of veg and non-veg soup. He refused to touch the packed non-veg soup after reading the names on it. Though this has nothing to do with your discussion topic, I thought I shall share the veg-non-veg feeling. Yes, I definitely read when I get my hands on to this book.

Are these books all really that different from each other? There are now so many... I mean, is single's soul all that different from lover's soul, etc. Not being critical, just wondering.
• Singapore
4 Dec 06
hmm..single's soul are those stories submitted by those single people out there and lover's soul are those stories with their partners. but i will strongly recommend you to read mother's soul!

I've read a couple of them, and they are really touching stories. When I worked in high school special needs we had a Chicken Soup For the Teen Soul book for every student which they used like a daily journal. The questions really made the kids look inside themselves and learn more about who they were.

I enjoy those books, I think they are great! I remember when the very first one came out years ago, I found it very touching and soothing. I haven't read the one for the Mother's soul yet, but my friend read it and she said it made her weepy too. I think I'll save that for when I actually become a Mom and can appreciate it fully. :O)
