Do you prefer a DVD burner or a DVD recorder?

What do you prefer and what is the difference between the both? Which one do you have and anyone know any good deals since I am looking to buy something cheap.

Is there a difference between a burner and recorder, I would be interested in the answers to this..I thought they meant the same thing. I hope someone will be able to tell us.

the DVD burner is hooked to the computer and the DVD recorder to the TV. I don't know if DVD recorder can be hooked to the computer as well.So while you are watching a movie you can record it too.
