Do you have dialup? If so, my guess is that the calls while you are online are coming in through your call waiting, but because your computer is connected, the call can't come through to your phone. And if the phone is not seeing the call, your caller ID won't either...

I have caller Id but when I'm online It doesn't work I don't even get my calls they say the phone just rings an rings , but I don't hear it ringing.

Read instructions and do it once more.Also for dial up internet,the connection will be weak.Both reciever and sender should have high speed internet connection.Increase the volume and see if there is really a problem.I found a similar problem.
