Do you get to have long phone chats with your friends?

A buddy of mine just called. He was checking in--no particular agenda. He's an excellent guitar player. We wound up talking for an hour. We discussed everything from our childhood memories to our respective college educations to music to "critical race theory" to guitar repair to political correctness. Do you get to have long phone conversations with your friends? I really enjoyed our chat today. Photo is on my Martin D-18, which is ready for pick-up at the shop.

Nope. My friends and I tend to send texts. I'd rather not talk on the phone unless absolutely necessary. My friends pretty much feel the same way about phones.

@TheHorse I'm not sure. I started doing it because I couldn't figure out how to politely get off the phone when people call me. When someone calls me I hate to be the one to hang up first. When I'm texting with people it doesn't bother me to just stop when I'm done saying whatever I needed to tell them. (I'll still read whatever they send after I'm done, but if they're just blabbering, I don't feel the need to respond.)

@DaddyEvil I sometimes resent that I do more listening than talking. But I still prefer live interaction.

Why is that? I would much rather talk on the phone than communicate only by text or email.

That's good! I have long chats with friends once and a while.

I wish it happened more often. I miss "hanging out."

I don't chat with my friends often, when I do I wind up having a long conversation.

I hate long phone calls, I always try to cut them short. I love to talk in person, but not on the phone.

@TheHorse Emails are for short messages and for professional use. I do not exchange emails with friends. I do not text either, but I hate very long phone calls, ten minutes is fine, more I get annoyed.

I prefer the phone to email. I don't text. I refuse.

@TheHorse I dont. The kids usually text but they stop in for visits. Face to face is even better. A couple of friends text.

One friend phones me about once a year. Another calls just about every day, sometimes two or three times in a day.

Nice looking guitar. I used to chat a lot with friends but have not been in touch with anyone lately. My mother was the champion talker, Her best friend would call her and they would begin chatting, I would go to the store and come back say about 2 hours later and there is mom on the phone still chatting,

Good for her! Sometimes I feel lonely. When I have a good talk with a friend I feel less lonely.

I haven't talked on the phone with my two friends for years. We correspond mostly by email and Facebook -- and birthday and Christmas cards. One is in London; and the other one is in Minnesota. I'm not big on phone conversations. I used to have a work colleague that would keep me on the phone for hours.

I have never had an interest in playing the guitar. Seems complicated

One has to have motivation. I taught a brand new student her first three chords today.

Yes I used to talk to my friends for hours on end and we hardly felt like we were talking that long.

That is a good thing! It's important to feel connected. I prefer phone to email and (blah) texting.

If you turn on your cameras, you could jam and talk at the same time. I guess you could with just the phone but 90% of music is visual, so you'd lose a lot.
