Lie or just misunderstanding....??? / myLot

One of my co-workers hired a new assistant that was recommended by me... I have mentioned few things about her, by mistake I mentioned she is an engineer by education,which sadly she is not.... My bad!!! When my colleague enquired her, she didn't mention to him as well that she is not an engineering graduate. Her point to this is, he was busy and she wasn't able to communicate, so she let the misconceptions be.... Now, the question in my head is... Is this a lie or just a piece of misunderstanding....????

This isn't a lie, it's a misunderstanding the needs to be talked about with the boss. He should not be misinformed, even though it wasn't intentionally done.
