Aspirin, bananas and lemons.

I believed my brother when he told me that if you eat a banana and drnk coke at the same time it's like taking drugs. That scared me. I always made sure that I only drank coke if I hadn't eaten a banana that day, but I was only six years old. Another story I fell for was that a person took aspirin and lemon their teeth would fall out. That one didn't worry me so much becauise I knew I was unlikely to be eating a lemon. Here on the island there are many such stories that people pass round, but not as a joke. It is sincerely believed by those who are gullible enough that if a girl eats too much fruit during her teenage years she will only have girl children, and no boys. That's seen as a bad thing, and many people believe it. I believe it ...... to be nonsense.

We do have such beliefs over here too. One example is that if someone is sweeping the floor and sweeps over your feet, you'll never get married

It sounds so real until you realize it doesn't make sense. These are folk tales

When I was younger growing up in Panama, the joke in my family was if I did go to be before midnight, the television shows that played on television at night around 10pm like "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and "Thriller" also known as the Bogeyman would get me.

I think I read the connection between aspirin and bananas somewhere, but the others seem to be all gibberish.
