Tonight my 6 year old got a peppermint kiss they are the Hershey kiss candies. He was talking about bat and I was teasing him when he said no mommy at is in bat. Okay well then can you spell B-A-T for me. He thought about it listening to the word and the sounds I was saying. First he said A I told him yes A is in BAT but that’s not the first letter in B-A-T. He was thinking again and said B. I told him yes what’s next and said the sound for the letter A. So he responded with saying the letter A. Gave him a thumbs up and told him one last letter. Both me and my husband said the sound for B and he did the sound too while thinking. Before he said B! We told him awesome job because we know it wasn’t easy for him to spell BAT. He has been having trouble tell the difference between sounds and remember what certain letters are to certain sounds. He is in the process of being tested for learning disabilities. So for his awesome spelling I gave him a piece of chocolate.

That is awesome. Some kids just learn differently. When my son was little he has probably with sounds and letters. He is an adult now and an engineer.

Yes very true lots of kids have trouble but he is 1 of three ans most likely has a learning disability like his siblings and my self. Side not lots of learning disabilities are actually genetic from parent to child. He is on the young side for being diagnosed typically first graders are not tested but because their is family history he is already receiving extreme help 5 days a week.

@ShyBear88 That is good that it is getting dealt with at such an early age.

@Happy2BeMe I didn’t want him to repeat Kinder because he wouldn’t benefit from it. So the school knew we were pushing him into the deep end to see if he would sink or swim so he started to sink and they started intervention
