Question: "How did writing become easier?"

After the invention of modern gadgets, some people stopped making so many handwritten notes. For my niece, I am encouraging her to practice handwriting with the use of cursive in English. She can do it but prefer to write in printing style. Do you think the pen will disappear in the future? Do you handwrite in printing or cursive? Image Credit: i.makeagif.com

Though gadgets are current trend, writing by hand and using the pen and paper will always be a personal thing. I still write in notebooks.

I think the pencils and pens will be around for a long time to come, technology isn't as reliable.

I don't believe it's because of the pandemic, many schools require children to write in longhand which requires a pencil or pen and I believe that will not change. Computers do change and way too often at that which makes me wonder when we will run out of ideas to improve the existing tech.

@rebelann You have a point here. I also believed that teachers require them to do it. In fact, one of my niece's teachers asked them to write their answers in cursive lately.

I agree. The progress of the 4th Industrial Revolution will be delayed due to this pandemic.

When I was still young, I used to collect different kinds of pens.

I was astonished how badly I write now, since I rarely do it, what with texting and keyboards. Like any other physical activity, we need to keep in practice . Muscle memory they call it

I do agree with you. I sometimes take the time to warm up before I can write with a pen and paper.

I hand write in cursive and NO the pen will never disappear... wait until all the electric system will go bust, we will all go back to the old instruments.

I agree. We can still go back from basic things if modernization cannot sustain progress.

@Shavkat We should never forget how to use old instruments, as we do not know what the future will bring.

I stopped using cursive as soon as I graduated from High School. I've printed everything I've written since then. (People complain about my printing, too. My writing and printing are the same size as an old typewriter writes. At least what I print is neat and legible. I don't care if people complain the size strains their eyesight.)

I humbly going to say that I am good at both ways of writing. I have been using the modern gadgets but did not change my handwriting.

No, pens will never become obsolete. At least I can't see it happening. My handwriting is a combination of printing and cursive.

I still write with pen and paper, but not that much. I used to be when still keeping my journal before.
