What will you do if a burglar breaks in your house?

One night you were asleep.
And suddenly you heard this suspicious sound at the back door
of your house. And you are thinking it must be a burglar.
So what will you do?
Me,, will get my shotgun or any gun available or weapon.
Once he breaks in I'll shot him immediately.
First of all it is self defense and tresspassing.
What will you do?

I have a recent incident -
We have water meter in gallery. So it's easy for anyone to break in to gallery and steal it. So one day I heard someone unscrewing something. I went into Hall and starting making Noises, And shouted Dad Call Police I saw someone in Gallery. 
He actually jumped off gallery keeping all his tools in gallery.
