Let us consider some special gifts; gifts that cannot be bought or sold or traded; gifts tenderly packaged to leave a lasting impact on our children's lives. Here is a list [ in no particular order] of the best gifts you can bestow on your child: * Health: The proverbial saying-A healthy mind in a healthy body is so true. The gift of good health is one of the most important and basic of all the gifts which the parents can bestow on their child. By nurturing and nourishing a child with a healthy lifestyle, good eating habits, and proper hygiene, parents can gift their child with one of the best gifts a child could ever have in a lifetime. * Love and Understanding. The precious gift of love and understanding is the primary and most vital of all the gifts parents can bestow on their children. Your child will thrive on it. All children thrive in a loving and caring environment. All children need to be understood and accepted for who they are. As Jacqueline Kennedy said, "You could be the busiest woman in the world, but if you are not understanding of your child's needs-all is lost." * Time. Bestow on your child the valuable gift of precious time. Time spent together in a loving companionship in the comfort of your home, is well spent. It brings mutual joy and respect and forges a solid relationship to last a lifetime. Your presence, much more than your presents, especially in the formative period of child development, will yield rich dividends and be treasured as fond memories always. * Education. As parents, we must understand that the aim of education is to equip your child for living a good life. Equipping your child with proper education will be one of the best gifts for your child. There is so much to learn and observe; so many skills to acquire; so much to do and talk about, and so many people to love and live with--- that could positively impact a child's life. * Independence. Fostering independence is essential for your child's all-round growth. Help your child to do things on his own; encourage initiative in decision-making. A good parent should instinctively know when to let go and allow him/her to handle his/her own life. * Responsibility. One of the best gifts you can bestow on your child is instilling a sense of responsibility. Insist that your child bears responsibility for his/ her behavior and understands the consequences. This will save him/her from future heartaches. * Family Values. Gift your child with a strong set of family values. Values like honesty and integrity, sharing, and large-heartedness are beautiful gifts to impart to your child. These will guard him against selfishness while earning him respect and admiration in adult years. *Self-Discipline. The gift of inculcating self-discipline in your child will be the measure for success in his adult life. Discipline is the bedrock of character-building. Have a few clear-cut house rules and make sure they are understood and followed consistently. These will contribute to his productivity in later years. * Ability to Think. Empower your child with this special gift. Teach your child to think for himself. In a wider perspective, it is a source of power; a power that will help him to be in control when faced with a crisis in adult years. * Love of Knowledge. A love of knowledge is a precious gift to foster in your child. We all know that knowledge is power. Equip your child with this tool; with a little thought and effort, you will be enriching your child's life and widening his horizon immeasurably. * Conclusion Gift your child plenty of opportunities for exposure leading to personal and emotional growth. Being the proud recipient of all the above gifts, your child will make a worthy place for himself in the world. Remember: “Gift your child roots to cling to and wings to fly.”-----Anon

Hi! That's natural for kids. THAT IS OK TOO! As long as you are bestowing on him, these other valuable gifts, it's fine.
