Our Relationship - Day Twenty

How has your childhood impacted your relationship? Trust in men was, and is, hard for me based off being left by my "dad", something else that happened back as a kid, and my ex abusing both me and my daughter. Though that's all only part of why I have trust issues with guys.. and him. Also feeling wanted and loved, by anyone - not just him - is hard for me to believe from being emotionally abused so much, as well as being left by my dad and ex.

@Courtlynn that's true! Guess we have to get rid of the bad apples before we find the right one.

That makes it really tough to trust men. Saying someone loved me and showing it were two different things. I didn't know how to love anyone and it affected my marriage and relationships with my husband and children.

Yeah, technically. He abused my mom when I was 1.5ish and my brother was 6months. Then had supervised visits off and on til he went to jail at some point - probably around age 3. I dont know though.

I find it difficult to trust anyone now. The person I needed the most left me when I was at my lowest

I understand. My dad left his family behind when I was a youngster but I’ve never been abused. I learned early to fight for myself. I hope you do that too.

@Courtlynn I have a friend who is emotionally and physically abused by her husband and she takes all the blame up on herself. He has her brainwashed.

I can understand you having trust issues. I do not trust most women when I meet them. It goes back to my childhood to.
