There is a separate department for tourism in the governmental structure in many countries. However, tourism sector has been dealt a severe blow by Covid. After the pandemic, the tourism sector will revive, I believe. In the Covid times, domestic tourism is the key. Governments and travel agencies have to reach out to the people of their own countries rather than people belonging to foreign nations. Covid protocols have to be adhered to as much as possible. Europe is certainly having a tough time. The Greek recession did not take place long ago. To add to the woes, Covid has emerged out of nowhere. The big players like France, Germany, Belgium, etc. have to stand by economically weaker European nations.
