As usual, I'm writing slowly because I know you can't read fast. — Corporal "Radar" O'Reilly (Gary Burghoff), in a letter Normally (Or abnormally, depending on your Reference Frame), I'm blond. But not today. Because it's Kiss A Ginger Day and that means everyone today is a Ginger. It's the same sort of mechanism that makes everyone Irish on St. Patrick's Day. That's not the only connection today has to St. Patrick's Day (Besides the obvious: Ireland has more redheads than any other country in the world). For many practical and impractical purposes, today also serves as the St. Patrick's Day Eve Pre-Party. With the emphasis on the Pre, because St. Patrick's Day Eve is still 63 days away. But who's counting. And that's not all. Don't forget Valentine's Day, which is in only 33 days. Depending on how and where you kiss your Ginger today, today further acts as a very acceptable Pre-Valentine's Day Party. And still, no one is counting. Unless you want to. And then mark every intervening day with some sort of appropriate activity or activities. The time frame, as are all the other details, is entirely up to you. The good Lord sent me here to guide, not to dictate. So the rest is in your hands. ************** The story behind "Kiss a Ginger Day" 3,469 views Jan 2, 2015

It's funny, when I was younger I had some red highlights. I tried to accent it by using a special "red" shampoo and conditioner. It didn't work.

Did you ever try Henna? I know some girls who had luck with it.

@xander6464 Never tried the henna for hair, but that is a thought. I've done the temporary tattoo kind before though :-)

@FayeHazel Those are cool, too. I don't like real tattoos, they're just too permanent and they don't age well but temporary tattoos have their place.

I don't like the term "ginger". (Calling us "ginger" is bigotry.) I have auburn hair. My daughter's hair is strawberry blonde. Three of my brothers had red hair.

I apologise. I didn't realize that "ginger" is offensive.

@xander6464 It singles us out from everyone else for something we can't help.

@DaddyEvil I suppose. But if it makes you feel any better, the whole thing was started by a redhead who was bullied because of his hair and was tired of it. That's what the video is about.

I have always loved being a redhead. There were so few of us when I was a kid, it made us special somehow. My Grandma was a redhead from Ireland, and I look just like her.

That's awesome. Being special in a good way is great.
