Today and tomorrow is the Harvest Festival all over India. Tomorrow is Makar Sankranti. In Bengal it's called "Posh Parban" in the North it's called " Lohri" in the South it's "Pongal" and in Assam it's called " Bihu". Goddess Lakshmi is given offerings on this day for a good harvest and a prosperous year. I offered " Gujia" which is done in our house. In olden days women used to do this puja at coasts in Odisha. The Paradip was a coast of trader. They ask the Goddesses for their husband's safe journey and their prosperous business.

In this chilly winter and covid deaths it's very natural that people will loose interest in this festival. We can only pray at home.

@Kandae11 Yes, it is so. In previous years the tribal community here used to dance through the roads and we used to watch it from our terrace.

I don't suppose the festival will be as well attended like in previous years because of covid?

It isn't a holiday for all in India. Only that people prepare delicacies and offer prayers with those delicacies to Goddess Lakshmi.
