Hi guys, It's been a while since I've been on myLot, so I'm pleased to see this platform still very active. I feel like since I've been inactive for so long, practically three years, this is almost like an introductory post. How's everyone? Nice to meet y'all again! How are you all coping? Me? I'm back in my home country, Trinidad and Tobago, and with all the travel restrictions and implications as a result of COVID19, it might be a while before I travel again. So that's a bummer... But I am thankful to be alive and to be healthy during these times. Other than that, it's Carnival season in these parts and traditionally at this time of the year there would be lots of parties and festivities and... well... gatherings. In the Caribbean, Trinidad enjoys top spot, if I may say so myself, as the hub of festivities when it comes to Carnival celebrations- traditionally. But, again, there's COVID, and there's none of that this year, though there is talk of reviving a Carnival of sorts. We'll see. To me the idea of a Carnival with restriction or, as the administration calls it, a safe zone Carnival is almost like being made to drink tepid tea when you're accustomed to enjoying it piping hot. I'll pass. The music, though, is great, as is always the case. You can't listen to Trini soca without feeling to shake a leg. I swear. I listen to it in the morning. Get up, get ready for an early trip to the gym or a run in the park, put on my headset and I swear it injects the right amount of energy to start the day. Besides this, I find comfort in the fact that restrictions have been lifted on our beaches, because trust me, there's nothing better than finding an isolated strip of beach, relaxing in the shade with your favorite book, and heading out for a bath when you feel like it. Well, that's me guys. How about you? How have you been?

Welcome back to mylot. I have been more active here lately. I'm sorry to hear about the carnival restrictions. And well I'm praying the world heals soon. I've just had enough of this Covid 19.

Hi YoghurtGal, Thanks for stopping by. Yeah, the Carnival restrictions are a downer, but I'm okay with it. I don't think our health system could handle an outbreak anyways, so I'd say caution before pleasure, right? Like you, I've had enough of COVID19 though, and I also pray for the world to heal.

@AlisaTR yeah it's good to have conscientious people like you. We definitely don't want any more outbreaks as the health system can barely cope with it.

What you're desribing here sounds better than a drab winter in Europe. We haven't had any snow yet, though, and as I'm not into winter sports like skiing or tobogganing it can stay this way. No slippery ice on the pavement is also a good thing. I'm sure you can't even imagine these things! :-) Btw, I was in your country once, in the lobby of the airport for some hours! It was a stop for refuelling for the flight to Mexico. We heard calypso music all the time through the loudspeakers.

Hi ML, I'd love to holiday in Europe sometime. This is a huge wish for me, so we'll see what the future holds. I'm not sure I'd make it in the cold though, so I'd probably aim for a summer visit if ever the world returns to "normal". I haven't ever experienced a brutal winter. I've been to Florida in early December and in March, it was 19 degrees Celsius outside and I was freezing. I think it's mostly because I was mentally unprepared for it and the sight of clear skies with a bright sun combined with cold winds was unsettling. So, as far as slippery ice on pavements, nope, you're right, can't imagine! lol Nice that you were here though, albeit passing through. You should visit sometime, you'd have a blast! Most tourists head to Tobago though because it's quieter, more tranquil, better beaches, more water sports. But you'd have fun on either of the two islands, I'm sure.
