Olanzapine

Olanzapine is the medication by brother is currently on it treats forms of schizophrenia. He was taking a 7.5 MG dose once a day since January 27th, on Friday he began taking a 10 MG dose. Here is one of the descriptions of Olanzapine "Olanzapine does not work straight away. It may take several days, or even weeks, for some of your symptoms to start improving. Soon after you first start taking olanzapine, before your other symptoms improve, it may make you feel more relaxed and calm." I believe this is the stage we are at now with my brother Tim, it's only been 11 days he's been taking this, he is more relaxed and more calm. But he is still insisting the voices are real, and has made more claims such as doctor he saw being fake. I'm hoping that it really will just take awhile to really see a difference but I'm not sure I just know I want things to improve.

I hope his meds kick in soon. Most take awhile to build up.

Yeppers. It's the same with meds for more "garden variety" psych issues like anxiety and depression.

I think they said the dosage will likely be increased each week if he generally feels the same he started at 7 mg, he's at 10 mg now next week 15 mg with a eventual maximum dose of 20 mg and from there they will have to find alternate methods

You are both in my thoughts. It will take some time for the meds to get into his system. I hope they will calm his mind soon.

@chrissbergstrom I'm glad they were helpful. And that you got to talk to a human.

I hope this medicine helps him. It's hard watching a loved one go through something like this.
