calling you stupid

Hi, here's a question. Imagine you hung out with some friends or had met someone. But if they're friends, you hung with them for quite some time, so whenever you left the room for any reason, you never hear them anymore because you completely left. But when you hang with them, you are ignored or when you're talking, what you say its only and what they answer is only a small amount but you like these friends, despite the fact that they only answer you with simple answers and with each other, they can last forever, they don't mind you being there. So one day when you hang with them, you need to go to the restroom or need to go out so while you're away far enough, you forget something and go back, no one knows you're near and one of them say your name stating, "'name' is annoying and stupid." You then get near them and tell them you heard or why they said that and you leave. Of course you'll feel sadand know you won't hang with them anymore, but then the one who called you stupid went to you and "sounded" like they meant to say they apologized and that to go with them to hang out. What will you guys do considering the fact that you didn't even do anything, just hung with them and asked questions that's not even regarding their personal stuff, but knowing they said it out of blue. Do they mean it? What would you think might caused them to say that, them knowing the same thing, you never said anything to insult them. Thanks
