The No Internet Saga

Dear Journal, We have been without internet for a dangerous 28 hours. The natives are getting restless. We had to resort to such drastic measures as watching old, expired DVDs just to get by. We were lucky to have found them. I fear another day such as this one may not end as lucky. The youngest in the group may be going feral, much more of this and he may succumb to the boredom. In the end it’s sure to get us all. (Seriously, Idk how I lived without internet and then slow internet as a kid. I have limited data on my phone, guys, I can’t be online all day!)

Omg! That explains why you were missing. Was about to send in the SWAT team

You have to send in a SWAT team. You never know, her youngest roommate might go feral and we'll have to send them in for her.

@sol_cee It would take me 24 hours of non-stop driving to reach her.

I wondered if you were hiding out for some reason. When our internet goes out, it has twice in two years, I turn on the hotspot on my phone and let her use that. She makes more money online than I do, as long as I'm not editing a manuscript, at least.

@akruser13 I only have 6 GB available on my phone plan for hotspot use. And I don't take my phone online. When you find me online, I'm on my laptop. We have unlimited data available at home. Don't use McDonald's internet. You can catch a virus from their internet. I tell people here to use the free internet at Subway... I don't know if you have one of those. And I have no experience with the internet at Starbucks.

@DaddyEvil Starbuck’s isn’t bad. It’s just further to go. I didn’t know Subway had WiFi for customers. I can maybe try that.

I do for a little bit but I don’t have unlimited data so I’m trying to be careful what I’m using it on. If the net’s not back up by tomorrow I’ll have to go steal WiFi from McDonalds or Starbucks. I have a zoom session for my dog training thing and I need good video quality for that.

Wow! I am sorry for you not having internet and I really don't know how I would get by with out it right now. But until I was in my mid 20's is when they came out with cable TV, no internet and I survived.

@akruser13 I know what you mean! I live in the eastern USA , near DC and as a child and teenager we only had 5 TV channels. But we survived! Played cards, board games, listened to music and danced, etc.

It wouldn’t be as bad if it also didn’t happen to be one of the few weeks in LA where it’s raining. Can’t even just go enjoy the outside!

I know that I am lost without Internet. There are many things I can do, but not being able to check my mail, read the news, look what is happening around the world makes me feel depressed.

This does sound like a very tense situation. I hope things improve soon before the situation deteriorates even more.
