St Paddy's Day

Ever since I was little and introduced to St. Paddy's Day at school the day was associated with green, good luck, and leprechauns. I love to wear green on this day and see all the school decorated with shamrocks. My family and I were Latvian by nationality not Irish but I soon also learned to love Irish music and dance. Unfortunately, my beloved grandma, my mom's mom died early on the morning of this day. She had immigrated from Latvia to live with us and I had learned to love her, I was eight years old and I could not understand why my mom told me that I could not see grandma before I went to school. By the time I returned from school my nanny a woman who had taken care of me from birth was in the kitchen waiting for me. I was happy to see her but my sixth sense even at such a young age had kicked in, I took a slice of pound cake, a glass of milk, and went to watch TV. However, the tears were already flowing even though no one had told me yet I knew my grandma was gone and no matter how anyone else understands the afterlife I felt a soft brush against my cheek and that is all I had to know. The years have flown and as many St Paddy's Days I still remember and I also enjoy Irish songs. Among my favorites is a very beautiful one called "Galway Bay" about someone who wants to return to Ireland at the end of his days and I knew my grandma in spirit was with my grandpa whose name was Martin just like my soul mate's and I knew they were up above and happy. That is a photo of me and my lovely grandma

What a lovely photo, of you with your grandma:) I had two wonderful grandmas, memories that I will always cherish until I go to heaven! Then, I'll see them once again What is it you are holding in this picture? I love Daniel Odonnell's music!

@kobesbuddy I am not sure what I am holding but I know it can be one of two things - a favourite doll or a stuffed toy, I must have been interrupted during playtime to take the photos and kept the toy with me,

@RasmaSandra I thought that it could possibly be a favorite toy or a pet.

She was a beautiful woman @jstory07 my mom always brought her new clothes so she would feel good being in the US since she did not speak English, That TV had a record player attached to it on the other side,

Those are great memories and this is such a wonderful photo. This reminds me our apartment when I was a kid. The old fashioned TV placed in a corner, the apartment plants in front of the window, the parquet covered by the rug. Nice memories from the past.

I always thought that those big bows my mom put in top of my head would make me fly one day @CarolDM then my hair got really long and I had braids and the ribbons were at the end of my braids,
