Stomach virus

Yep, that is the latest big thing at our school. I had read on a news page somewhere that the Norovirus (stomach bug) is the next big virus to spread like wildfire. Our kindergarteners (5-6 year olds) seem to be the ones catching it most right now. Their teacher was out for a couple of days this week. Today one little guy was passing by me in a doorway and he said "we only have six kids today. Six kids!" Sure enough, I counted six of them in line for lunch. I think that is about half the class. Generally I am not out around the general population of the school, plus I do not tend to get this kind of illness often. Maybe I am safe. Often you do not run a fever with a stomach virus, so people do not keep their kids home, unless they actually throw up. So it really spreads. TMI for sure. Little kids are fun. They talk to anybody. I do not know this kid that spoke from me from anywhere, but I am adult in the school, I must be a really nice person. Little pre schoolers and kindergarten kids speak to me, smile,or wave all the time. Of course I smile and wave back. I have a few special huggers as well. I hope they do not share their bug.

All kids loved my Mum. She said it was because she had a kind face like a cow!! How she ever made the connection or thought that I just can't understand.

Oh, now that is funny. I never really thought of a cow having a kind face.

@GardenGerty She always had a milking cow/house cow and looked after them very well.

Kids tend to be germ magnets. So, that's understandable. Hopefully you won't catch anything.

When Pretty was small, I hated the bugs that went around the school. She might or might not get sick but she'd bring them all home to me. I got sick.

@GardenGerty All I could do was survive until the next bug she brought me. *shrug*

Usually those bugs spread fast.

Yes, they do and you do not always see the symptoms right away, the way you see and hear runny noses, coughs and sneezes.

@GardenGerty Anywhere you have a lot of children germs will spread.

Kids can be so much fun sometimes. I haven't been around little kids in years.

I hope the bug does not spread around the school and you do not get it.

Parents should keep their kids at home when they are sick, the virus spreads like crazy among the kids.

Yes, they should but either the kids do not act sick at home, or parents think they are faking it or just tired.

@GardenGerty Most parents think that it's not so bad to keep their kids at home.
