Laundry Room Ettiquette

Laundry Room Etiquette I left my stuff in the dryer 20 extra minutes to take an important phone call, and got a nasty note stuck to it by a so-called neighbour. LOL There are 10 washers, and 10 dryers. 9 dryers were as empty as Doug Ford’s head. For those unfamiliar with Ontario, Doug Ford is our Premiere (Governor). Have you ever been in a similar situation? Her note said something about leaving stuff in there “all day.” 20 minutes isn’t all day. There was only one other dryer running, so I’m pretty sure it belonged to the one who left the note. I was very tempted to open the door and stick it in there as she did with me, but you know what the Lord’s Prayer says about temptation, and this is Good Friday after all, so I didn’t. Have you ever received or left such a note? Receivers, how did you handle it? Leavers, why did you do it?

I can see how your neighbor might've felt. When I had to use the services of a laundry mat, I'd come back to find my clothes on the folding table if I was gone too long. Idealy, you're supposed to stay with your things, but people rarely do. And, while it was only 20 minutes it could've easily felt longer for her. Hard to say, really.

I get it, but there were 9 empty dryers. 99% of the time I’m down there on time, and this is the latest I’ve ever been. If they were all going, I’d have been a 20-minute-A-hole. Thanks for sharing your laundromat experience

@danishcanadian Yes, I understand. Some people are impatient A-holes. Especially when it comes to coin-opporated machines. When I used to have to do laundry, I would use the top dryers. It was hard for me to bend down to reach the bottoms, but I tended to wait patiently, (most of the time I didn't have to), but I know there are those that can't do that.

That would have bugged me. I'm lucky I can use my dad's washer and dryer because my apartment laundromat is shady.

A friend on another site said that communal laundry facilities are where you see the worst in people.

Maybe that was her favorite dryer...

The note said it wasn’t my personal dryer, so it’s not hers either. If I can’t get the one I want, I keep mo o g one to the left until I get an empty one.
