How do you react when people are rude to you?

I usually instantly withdraw into myself and blank them. I don't usually say anything back to them about their rudeness because I can be really nasty when i'm angry. But they can tell i'm not happy as I don't find it easy to hide my emotions. I try not to let it bother me for the rest of the day and keep telling myself that they are not even worth getting upset over, but it does secretly infuriate me for the rest of the day.

Yeah,me too. It just ruins the rest of my day.And 'ya know most of the time I didn't do anything to deserve it.I have one customer that is rude everytime he comes in.He talks to me like I'm a child and don't know what I'm doing.I really hate that but he's a regular so I gotta be nice.Grrrr...

Hell, it is definitely an angry reaction if somebody is rude to you, and that too if the person is close to you, it hurts even more. The reaction would be only anger if the person is not known to you. Yet, if you could have a control of your emotions and reason out with the other person, the cause of his being rude, and if the reason is acceptable, then the entire situation would be under control. On the other hand if the reason is not acceptable to you, do talk to the person and openly express your anguish over the same. This would give a lot of relief and does not carry over the pain in your heart. Try it out, rather than allow the cancer to grow within.

My first reaction would be angry

First I try to calm down the other person. If it doesn't work I turn my back and go on with my life. People that doesn't know how to calm down don't deserve my attention :P
