Air conditioning settings?

This is always a popular topic down here in the south. Especially once March hits and the weather creeps higher and higher by the hour it seems. This past winter I can count on one hand how many times we had the heater on. Well maybe not that bad, but we definitely did not have the heat on more than ten or twelve times. Don't get me wrong, we had days or nights rather where it got in the twenties, and even a couple of times in the teens. Buuuuut even so. We were pretty much ok. We turned the heat on when it was necessary, but luckily we didn't have to have it blaring all winter long. In fact, our AC was on more than our heat during the winter months. Which I think was even more so this year than it has in the past couple years. We are those people who keep the heat or air on the same number year round. When it gets cold, the heat gets set to 62, and when it gets hot, the AC gets set to 62. So more or less it is 62 degrees in our house year round. This might seem hot to some people, or FREEZING to others. But it is what is comfortable in our house. Now there are times, when it gets set to 60, especially when it's super hot. There are also a few times that it will get set to sixty four. When it's either damp outside or it just isn't so miserably hot. So that brings up the question. What are your heating/AC settings?

Here in my city the weather is pleasant throughout the year and we hardly need them. It's never extreme temperatures here. We use our AC on few days when it might get hot here. We set it to 22 degree Celsius for few hours and that's good enough.

I do have to say if it was 62 in the house all the time, I would be SO cold! But it's all in what people get used to. In the cold of the deep winter, if it goes below 70 I get pretty cold. I mean...below o outside is just cold, ya know? I have to run the AC when it's warm outside, whether I want to or not. There are many days I would love to open a few windows, but I have such terrible allergies I rarely do that. AC on warm days is usually on 73-75, depending on who is here. I can manage fine on 75, but some of the kids think that's too hot.

I have a window AC and a radiant heater. So I turn off the air conditioner in the winter and turn the heat on only if it is really cold out side.

I never have the heat on!!! I usually have the ac on at 72 degrees 24/7/365, 366 in a Leap Year but then I don't pay utilities --included in the rent--so it might be a different story if I did!

That's such an interesting question. My heat is normally set for around 68 degrees but I wouldn't hesitate to pump it up if it got mighty cold in here. My a/c is usually set for about the same but most of the time it gets too cold and I have to adjust it to about 70-72
